Dear Prospective Little Elementary Families,
Let me introduce myself. My name is Esther Valdez, proud principal of Little Elementary School. I have made it my priority to make Little one of the best elementary schools in Jefferson County. I know that school choice is ever-present and I want to invite you to take a closer look at the great things happening at your neighborhood school. The staff at Little Elementary is committed to developing respectful and confident life-long learners through excellence in academics, the arts and evolving technologies. We continually work to create a child-centered environment at Little that promotes creative thinking, individual expression and responsible citizenship.
Little has gone through quite a few changes in recent years. We have a full time Instructional Coach that does a fantastic job guiding students and teachers to achieve the highest academic standards. We have made great strides in providing students the best in technology, including SMART Boards in classrooms, Library and model classroom, document cameras in every classroom, and three carts of laptops to access wireless internet throughout the school. We offer a variety of extra-curricular activities including before and after school care, choir, student council, running club, typing club, Karate, and math club just to name a few.
The staff at Little Elementary is committed to excellence and recognizes the importance of positive relationships in the lives of our students, and we place a premium on establishing supportive staff and student interaction. We also know that student to student relationships play a critical role in a child’s elementary school experience, and we offer a variety of programs designed to foster positive peer relationships.
This past year we improved in 8 out of 12 CSAP test scores! We are an accredited school identified as making High Growth. We are proud of our achievement on standardized tests; however we believe that not everything in a child’s education is about CSAP. At Little we focus on the whole child! The education of each child does not begin or end at the schoolhouse doors. It is essential that we all work together—school, family, and community—to give each child the best education possible.
I want to extend an enthusiastic invitation to visit Little Elementary and see for yourself the great learning environment we have created. Please call to set an appointment to meet with me personally and/or enjoy a school tour.
